1963…Jackie DeShannon sang "Rock-A-Bye Your Baby" and "Just In Time" as she made her network TV debut on CBS' "The Jackie Gleason Show."
 
1964…During a Rolling Stones tour, a riot broke out at the Chantingall Hotel in Hamilton, Scotland, when more than 4,000 fans with forged tickets crashed the gates at the band's show.



 
1964…In London, the Animals recorded "The House Of The Rising Sun" in one take.
 
1966…At EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London, the Hollies recorded "Bus Stop," which became their first Top 10 hit in North America.
 
1966…Bruce Springsteen stepped into a recording studio for the first time, to record with his garage band the Castiles at Mr. Music in Brick Town, New Jersey. They cut two Springsteen songs, "Baby I" and "That's What You Get." The songs were recorded directly to disc. Seven or eight test pressings were made.
 
1967…The Jimi Hendrix Experience continued their first European tour with a concert at Stadthalle in Offenbach, Germany.
 
1967…It was announced that the Beatles had been selected to represent the UK on "One World," the first global satellite broadcast, to air on June 25. The band was commissioned to write a song for the event. John Lennon's "All You Need Is Love" was the composition that was chosen.
 
1967…Stevie Wonder released the single "I Was Made To Love Her."
 
1968…In Santa Clara, California, the Doors, the Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, and the Grateful Dead performed at the Northern California Rock Festival.
 
1969…The 5th Dimension sang "Up-Up And Away," "Working On A Groovy Thing," and "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In" on CBS-TV's "The Ed Sullivan Show."

2004…The Moody Blues' original bass player (Go Now) Clint Warwick died of liver disease at age 63.
 
2005…Gordon Lightfoot made a triumphant return to the stage at Massey Hall in Toronto, two years after he nearly died from an abdominal aneurysm. Greeted by a standing ovation, he quipped, "Sorry I'm late."
 
2010…John Fogerty Day was declared in Los Angeles as the Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman was honored by Broadcast Music International (BMI).
 

2011…At the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, California, John Lennon's handwritten lyrics for the 1967 Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" sold at auction for $237,132.
